Nashville Humidifier & Dehumidifier Installation

Your Local Humidity Control Experts

When the air feels heavy enough to wear, or so dry that your skin cracks, you need more than just standard heating and cooling equipment: You need dedicated humidity control. Unchecked humidity levels actually damage your property and impact your health. Excess moisture breeds mold, mildew, and dust mites, while overly dry air causes wood floors to warp and worsens respiratory issues.

At M.J. Frick Co., we can discuss what whole-house humidity control products are best for your indoor air quality needs. Our veteran-owned company has been serving our community for more than 45 years and is familiar with all of the humidity challenges that impact local homes and businesses. Our licensed, insured, and NATE-certified technicians are prepared to professionally install a wide range of the latest products from leading manufacturers, including American Standard.

If you have urgent humidity concerns, we offer 24/7 emergency service and same-day support. Our team’s goal is to deliver the best possible service and exceed your expectations, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Our commitment to our customers is reflected in our reviews. We’re also a BBB Accredited Business and maintain an A+ rating thanks to our customers. Ask about our satisfaction guarantee, warranties, payment plans, and financing options.

We Can Help You Master Your Humidity

While buying a portable unit from a big-box store may seem easy, integrating a whole-home system requires technical expertise that goes beyond simply plugging in a cord. We know how to effectively approach humidity control and can evaluate your property’s needs and recommend the right solutions.

Our technicians can also handle the complex work of cutting into supply and return plenums, running dedicated electrical circuits, and plumbing drainage lines to code. By trusting our professionals with the installation, you avoid the risks of water damage from improper fittings and electrical hazards, giving you a system that works seamlessly with your current heating and AC system from day one.

Signs You Need a Humidifier

Cold weather often brings a significant drop in humidity, but your heating system can make the problem worse by taking the remaining moisture out of the air. This lack of hydration can affect everything from your physical health to the structural integrity of your house or commercial building.

If you notice several of these symptoms occurring simultaneously, you may need a humidifier:

  • You wake up with a sore throat or bloody nose. Your mucous membranes need moisture to function correctly and protect you from illness. Excessively dry air dries out your nasal passages and throat while you sleep, leading to irritation, hoarseness, and increased susceptibility to sinus infections or nosebleeds.
  • Your skin feels itchy and dry. Winter itch is a real problem when indoor humidity plummets. Lotions and moisturizers often fail to keep up because the air constantly evaporates moisture from your skin, leaving it flaky, red, and uncomfortable.
  • You experience frequent static shock. Static electricity thrives in dry environments. If walking across the carpet and touching a doorknob results in a painful zap, or if your clothes cling to your body, the air in your home lacks sufficient moisture to get rid of the electrical charge.
  • Your wood floors or furniture are cracking. Wood absorbs and releases moisture based on the surrounding air. When the air is extremely dry, it pulls moisture out of your hardwood floors, cabinets, and antique furniture, causing them to shrink, splinter, or crack.
  • You feel colder than the thermostat reading suggests. Humid air holds heat better than dry air. When the air is too dry, sweat evaporates from your skin too quickly, creating a cooling effect even when the heat is running. Installing a humidifier often allows you to lower the thermostat setting without sacrificing comfort.
  • Your indoor plants look brown or wilted. Most indoor plants originate from tropical environments and struggle in arid conditions. If you see brown tips on leaves or general drooping despite regular watering, the air is likely too dry for them to thrive.

When Should I Consider a Dehumidifier?

Excess moisture can be destructive. Humidity can infiltrate homes and commercial buildings through crawl spaces, basements, and everyday activities like cooking and showering. When that moisture gets trapped inside with nowhere to go, your HVAC system will struggle to keep up, leading to a clammy, uncomfortable environment that puts your property at risk.

If any of these issues sound familiar, you should explore installing a dehumidifier:

  • Musty or mildew-like odors. A persistent damp smell, especially in basements, crawl spaces, or laundry rooms, is the most reliable sign of hidden mold or mildew growth. Mold and mildew need moisture to survive, so a musty scent suggests that water vapor is accumulating somewhere it shouldn't.
  • Condensation on windows. Foggy glass or water droplets beading on the inside of your windows indicate that the air inside your home or commercial building holds more moisture than it can handle. When this warm, wet air hits the cool surface of the glass, it condenses into liquid water, which can eventually rot windowsills and damage drywall.
  • Sticky or clammy air. If the air feels heavy and your skin feels sticky even when your air conditioner is running, the humidity is too high. Your AC unit cools the air, but it may not be powerful enough to remove the massive volume of water vapor present, leaving you cool but damp.
